Some doubt DuPont's vapor filters BY ELAINE D'AURIZIO The Record (NJ) September 25, 2009POMPTON LAKES - While state environmental officials say test results show filtering systems are effectively removing toxic vapors from homes, some residents remain skeptical. At a council meeting last month, several homeowners read letters they sent to David Epps, project manager of the DuPont Pompton Lakes Works manufacturing site. DuPont is responsible for the mitigation of hazardous vapors emanating from groundwater pollution in a neighborhood near a former explosives plant, which closed in 1994. DuPont has installed 153 filtering systems already, at a cost of up to $3,000 each. As many as 436 homes sit on the affected area. ....
