Battery parts maker seeks land in Battle Creek Elizabeth Willis Battle Creek Enquirer (MI) December 2, 2009A battery parts manufacturer requested to lease and possibly purchase land in Battle Creek. The Japanese-owned Toda America Inc. has expressed an interest in expanding its ability to provide materials for lithium-ion batteries used in hybrid vehicle technology. On Tuesday, the Battle Creek Tax Increment Finance Authority approved the sale of a little more than 18 acres along West Dickman Road in the Fort Custer Industrial Park to Toda America for $100,000. ...The land is contaminated with metals such as arsenic, lead, cobalt and manganese at levels higher than what occurs in nature, probably due to oils and other chemicals that have leached into the soil. ...
