City leader lobbies legislators for aid by Emily Canning-Dean Twinsburg Bulletin (OH) November 25, 2010Twinsburg -- Requesting federal funding during difficult budget times can be a challenge. The mayor hopes legislators will make financial assistance a necessity for communities hit hard by automotive industry bankruptcies and restructuring. Mayor Katherine Procop, one of 20 members of the Mayors Automotive Coalition, traveled to Washington, D.C. Nov. 16 and 17 to discuss with legislators a proposed bill that would provide $500 million in assistance to automotive communities. The Chrysler Stamping Plan on Route 82 closed its doors for good in July, and the funding could be especially helpful in trying to redevelop the site -- a primary economic development focus for the city for the past two years. ...
