Rome Cable site cleanup hailed By ROBERT BRAUCHLE Utica Observer-Dispatch (NY) November 25, 2010ROME - A 50-acre site once thought to contain contamination from a defunct manufacturing plant is now being hailed as a success story. ...State Department of Environmental Conservation records show that fuel tanks, pits, drums of waste and other petroleum and hazardous substances, along with the cleaning solvent trichloral ethylene were found on the site. The company coated and spun wire in a number of buildings on the property prior to filing for bankruptcy and liquidating its assets in 2003. The cleanup will free up about 400,000 square-feet on the site to become available for mixed-use commercial space, according to the release. ...
