And how much would it have cost to build a coal fired steam electric generating plant, including the long term costs for scrubbers, water treatment, permitting, compliance, etc?  Yes, we have a long way to go, in looking at the benefits/costs, let's consider all the avoided costs as well as the projected benefits.

The most interesting statistic that I got from reading this article is  
that the expenditure of 1/2 billion dollars would be equivalent to  
removing 2,800 cars from use for one year  in terms of green house gas  
(GHG) emissions.  We have a long way to go!
