A&A Metal cleanup could generate grants for Perry downtown

PERRY -- A cleanup effort at the former A&A Metal Fabricating site could help generate grant funding for the larger downtown area, a regional planning official said Tuesday.

Senior Planner Greg Albert of the Genesee/Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council outlined the village's Brownfield Opportunity Area during an informational session in the Perry Firemen's Building at the Village Park.

"Right now we're in step one, which is a preliminary analysis and development of a vision of where the community wants to be," he said.

The state Brownfield Opportunity Area program is designed to help communities foster redevelopment. The projects restore dormant and blighted land to productive areas.
