East Hampton Brownfields Redevelopment Agency Announces Completion of
Cleanup
Work done at former Gong Bell property located at 103 Main St. East Hampton-Portland Patch (CT) July 12, 2011The Town of East Hampton announced that clean up of the former Gong Bell property located at 103 Main St. in the historic Village Center has been completed. The work included the completion of assessment activities, the removal of a derelict structure, the removal of contaminated materials, the regrading of remaining contaminated soil and the isolation of the remaining soil under an impermeable membrane. The membrane is intended to prevent the potential migration of contaminants into Pocotopaug Creek. Once the soil was isolated and the necessary drainage layers constructed, final grading occurred and a new parking lot was constructed. The parking lot will provide additional parking for the Library/Community Center and Senior Center complex as well as the Village Center in general. ...
