BY Corinne Lestch NEW YORK DAILY NEWS October 14, 2011Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott has vowed to meet with parents from toxic Public School 51 to address their concerns after a public forum he chaired Wednesday night turned contentious and emotional over the long-simmering issue. It's been nine months since the Department of Education discovered high levels of trichloroethylene poisoning PS 51, The Bronx New School. But parents only found out about the presence of the dangerous toxin in August. "The DOE's decision to keep the Bronx New School open and to allow our children to stew in toxic levels of TCE for five to six months borders on the criminal," said Alan Gary. ...
