Cleanup eyed for Seymour Lumber By Jean Falbo-Sosnovich New Haven Register (CT) May 2, 2012SEYMOUR - A potential investor has expressed interest in the former Seymour Lumber & Supply Co., prompting town officials to seek grants to get the property cleaned up. First Selectman Kurt Miller said this week he is working with Valley Council of Governments Executive Director Rick Dunne in hopes of securing brownfields funding to clean the site at 85 Bank St. Seymour received a $500,000 brownfields grant last month, courtesy of the state Department of Economic and Community Development, which will be used to remediate the contaminated soil next door at the former Housatonic Wire Co. Miller said while he couldnât disclose the name of the investor, heâs hoping to get the buildings demolished and the property remediated so it can be marketed as a prime piece of real estate. ...
