Brownfield on North Ninth will become a park

A field on North Ninth Street, just south of Lafayette Golf Course,  
is getting a makeover next month.

The Lafayette Redevelopment Commission agreed Thursday to spend  
$105,550 to create the North Ninth Street Trailhead Park. The  
commission also will pay $11,000 on a project that will connect  
hikers from there with the Wabash Heritage Trail.

"This is a connection to the Wabash Heritage corridor," said Belinda  
Kiger, Lafayette’s community parks and urban forestry manager. "We  
don't really have a designated trailhead. They've been parking at the  
golf course."
