by Scott Davis Lansing State Journal (MI) February 6, 2014A dilapidated building on Lansing's north side would be razed to make way for a proposed $7 million mixed-use facility, city officials said Thursday. The building at 4000 N. Grand River Avenue, adjacent to Capitol Regional International Airport, would be demolished this spring with about $290,000 in funds provided through the Lansing Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, said Karl Dorshimer, president and CEO of the Lansing Economic Development Corp. ...Dorshimer said the site qualifies for brownfield status because of asbestos that must be cleaned up at the site. The 63,000 square-foot building, constructed in 1962, formerly housed offices for Farm Bureau Insurance and later served as a training center for General Motors Co.
