Grand Haven applies for grant to remove diesel tanks near ski area by Alex Shabad WZZM TV-13 News (Grand Rapids, MI) February 6, 2014GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WZZM) -- Grand Haven city leaders are trying to get federal dollars to help clean up a potentially contaminated site near a popular ski area.
The city is applying for a one million dollar brownfield grant from the EPA, which would then be used as a loan for at least six local projects.
One of the projects would demolish and remove diesel tanks at the Mulligan's Hollow Ski area. The tanks were used for an old electric generator but are now empty and no longer operating. City leaders say there is no threat to the public, because they say any contaminated materials would be underground and contained in a specific area.
