Community groups continue opposition to state-approved remediation plan

MILLSBORO - Grassroots opposition to a state-approved remediation plan for Pinnacle Foods Group's former Vlasic pickle property that Allen Harim seeks to acquire and convert into a poultry processing operation is back in court

"I personally will not give up until the fat lady sings because someone has to stand up for this community," said Cindy Wilton, co-founder of the grass-roots Protecting Our Indian River group who lives near the property sought by Allen Harim.

The Notice of Appeal states that the conclusions by the state Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control "are not supported (and in fact are contradicted) by substantial evidence in the record," and that the approved Brownfield remedial action plan "did not comply with the requirements of the Hazardous Substances Control Act and the regulations issued there under."
