Notable projects land brownfield cleanup grants from Met Council by Sam Black Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal (MN) January 29, 2015St. Paul's Midway Stadium redevelopment, the Schmidt Brewery keg house and the BAE redevelopment in Fridley are among 13 projects to receive brownfield cleanup grants form the Metropolitan Council. The grants total $3.3 million for redevelopment projects in seven cities. They'll help clean up a combined 70 acres, create or retain 1,500 jobs and encourage more than $178 million in private investment, the Metropolitan Council said in a news release. The Council received 21 applications this funding round, requesting a total of $5.7 million for brownfield cleanup and investigation. Here's the grants (listed in decreasing value):Midway Stadium, St. Paul :$750,000 to help pay for soil remediation and soil vapor mitigation at the 12.6-acre site that is currently vacant. The site served as a dump before being developed into a baseball stadium. Bloomington-based United Properties and the St. Paul Port Authority are redeveloping the site into a multi-tenant, 189,000-square-foot industrial building with surface parking. ...
