TCE prompts i3 to consider relocating from Endicott IBM’s successor, i3, is looking to leave the storied manufacturing site in Endicott due to concerns over workers being exposed to TCE pollution and various operational issues. by Tom Wilber Binghamton Press and Sun-Bulletin (NY) August 20, 2015 IBM’s successor, i3, is looking to leave the storied manufacturing site in Endicott due to concerns over workers being exposed to TCE pollution and various operational issues. Jim Matthews, president of i3, said he is considering the move in the wake of recent change in the state Department of Health policy governing exposure to TCE, the industrial solvent that has polluted the 60-acre IBM legacy site on North Street. i3 is also seeking operational efficiencies and energy savings with a new site, according to Matthews, who succeeded Robert Nead as i3 president in March. About 400 i3 employees occupy buildings 18, 40, 41 and 47 on what is now the Huron Campus. i3 is looking to relocate somewhere “in the Greater Binghamton area,” Matthews said in an email. .. for the entire article, see http://www.pressconnects.com/story/news/local/2015/08/20/tce-pollution-prompts-relocation/32085319/ -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center 278-A Hope Street Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650-961-8918 or 650-969-1545 Fax: 650-961-8918 LSiegel@cpeo.org http://www.cpeo.org _______________________________________________ Brownfields mailing list Brownfields@lists.cpeo.org http://lists.cpeo.org/listinfo.cgi/brownfields-cpeo.org | |
