IBM plans new tests for TCE exposure in Endicott

ENDICOTT - Questions about exposure to TCE on the Huron campus are prompting a plan to retest indoor air under the supervision of state health and environmental officials.

IBM Corp. - the former owner of the 60-acre manufacturing site now owned by Huron Real Estate Associates - has agreed to collect a new round of samples as part of an ongoing effort to monitor and clean the site, which is  listed on the state’s hazardous waste registry.

Huron President Chris Pelto characterized the testing as a step forward in an already successful campaign to ensure worker safety at the site. He cited“substantial documented progress” with cleaning the site over the years. “We look forward to a new data set showing consistent or improved indoor air quality levels,” he added.
