Environmental process in Sudbury halts National Development permitting on Raytheon site

SUDBURY – After a site walk on Thursday, progress on a potential affordable housing and retail complex on the Raytheon land will be halted until the developers get environmental clearance, a Department of Environmental Protection spokesman said.

According to Joe Ferson, a DEP spokesman, National Development and Avalon Bay must file an environmental notification form under the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act before the town can issue permits for the project. Because of the project’s size and scope, Ferson said the state agency has to sign off on plans first.
