Former Manufactured Gas Plant cleanup schedule to begin in January By Heather Hoelscher Red Bluff Daily News (CA) November 12, 2016 Red Bluff - The Pacific Gas and Electric Co. is set to begin a nine-month voluntary cleanup project in January 2017 to address contaminated soil left behind by the former manufactured gas plant at 600 Rio St. along the Sacramento River. PG&E Project Manager Bill White presented details of the cleanup project Thursday at the Sacramento River Discovery Center’s Thursday Evening Program. Cleanup of the site will provide long-term protection of public health and the environment as some by products of the gas making process were left buried at the site. The property does not present a health risk in its condition, however, the removal of contaminated soil is an important step in future property redevelopment, White said. The intent is to get the site back into productive use for the city and sell it after cleanup is complete. ...
