Former Visteon site in Shelby Twp. to be redeveloped -- reportedly for Amazon

Up to 1,000  jobs could be coming to Shelby Township through the development of a more than 1-million-square-foot distribution center at the former Visteon site.

Neither county, township nor state officials would confirm who was behind the redevelopment,  citing non-disclosure agreements with the developer and others. But Crain's Detroit Business reported late today that Amazon was eyeing the property at 50500 Mound Road.

Tax increment financing would pay for cleanup and restoration. Construction would start next month.
