Few Wells Test Positive for TCE

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Residents near the Fantastic Caverns have been worried for months that their water could be contaminated by a chemical called TCE.

The chemical was discovered at a decades-old industrial site near the airport.

That chemical was either dumped or leaked into the soil.

The Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Health and Senior Services have been testing hundreds of wells and a handful of homes in the area.

They discovered that only four of the tested wells were above the maximum contamination level.
