N.J. town is turning a former glass factory into a waterfront park By Gianluca D’Elia NJ Advance Media March 25, 2019 A children’s park and a soccer field will soon replace an industrial brownfield, formerly site of the Scientific Glass Factory in Bloomfield, that residents have seen as an eyesore for years. The town held a groundbreaking for the long-awaited Lion Gate Municipal Complex earlier this month, and officials say the waterfront park along the Third River is part of a plan to restore important wetlands that will reduce the impact of floods in the area. … The municipal complex is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the town’s recent history, the mayor said. The first phase of the construction, which includes planting an artificial wetland, is set to be completed by September.
