Building a connection: Developer to break ground on 280-unit apartment complex at SouthSide Works

The latest addition to SouthSide Works - a 280-unit apartment complex - is ready to get rolling.

Indianapolis-based TWG Development will break ground Wednesday on Connection @ South Side, a $56.7 million project located a stone’s throw from Hot Metal Street and the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.

The five-story building will feature 39 studio, 160 one-bedroom and 81 two-bedroom apartments. They will be constructed above a 187-space parking garage.

The parcel is one of the last remaining pieces of land still to be developed at SouthSide Works, the sprawling entertainment, residential, retail and office complex built at the site of a former Jones & Laughlin and LTV steel mill.
