DNR plans another public meeting Nov. 7 about TCE pollution

An update on TCE groundwater contamination in Springfield and Willard will be the focus of an open house and informational meeting Nov. 7.

Rep. Sonya Anderson, whose state district includes the affected areas, announced that the Department of Natural Resources will conduct the meeting from 4-8 p.m. at the Relics Event Center, 2015 W. Battlefield Road, in Springfield.

DNR will talk about trichloroethylene contamination from the former Litton Systems Inc. site in Springfield and the former Electro-Pac site in Willard.

Anderson has helped spearhead the effort in her community to keep the public updated on the TCE contamination at the former Litton site, which is located just east of the Springfield-Branson National Airport. DNR is overseeing the cleanup of the site through its Superfund Cooperative Program.
