State health review is encouraging after Nonantum contamination

After years of questions regarding possible health problems, including cancer and heart defects, caused by indoor air exposure to the chemical trichloroethylene (TCE) in parts of Nonantum, the state Department of Public Health, declared in its review that “No unusual patterns were observed.”

Speaking last week to an audience of concerned neighbors and city officials at Post 440, Brenda Netreba, state environmental analyst for the Community Assessment Program, explained the scope of the agency’s work.
