Base closure pushed back Navy supply corps School
The U.S. Navy Supply Corps School is now scheduled to close in 2011, two years later than expected. The Prince Avenue base is set to shut down in March 2011, according to a Navy official in charge of closing several Southeastern bases. Moving day was pushed back because the Navy is juggling several bases that will be closed, downsized or expanded during the latest round of base closings, said Darrell Molzan, a base closer manager based in Charleston, S.C., who is overseeing the process of closing the Navy school and several other bases. The Navy is renovating two schoolhouses and building new barracks at Naval Station Newport in Rhode Island for the supply corps school, Molzan said.
