Will civilians redeploy with military base jobs? Fort Monmouth joins efforts encouraging workers to move. By Angela Delli Santi, Associated Press Phildelphia Inquirer July 17, 2006 TINTON FALLS, N.J. - When Jim and Teresa Savarese drove their family to Aberdeen, Md., to check out the area where his civilian at Fort Monmouth will be transferred, a real estate agent took their three children to ride horses, and the kids were sold on the move. By the time the family returned home to their Jersey Shore community of Point Pleasant, however, the horses were a fading memory and the children were back to their familiar refrain: "We don't want to move." Whether to move or look for a new job is the choice facing tens of thousands of civilians who work at 22 major military bases that the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission has targeted to close by 2011.
