New conflict muddies Mitchell Field house reuse talks Housing subcommittee leader resigns after Chatterjee questions panel's authority Rachel Ganong Brunswick Times Record (ME) July 21, 2006 HARPSWELL - George J. Mitchell Field, which will bring thousands of people together for the Harpswell Festival on Sunday, tore town officials apart Thursday after Selectwoman Katherine Chatterjee moved to halt committee plans to refurbish two buildings on the property for affordable housing. The Board of Selectmen had just entertained a report from the housing subcommittee outlining its plans to create work-force housing in the two houses on an 0.82-acre parcel the town received from the Navy in September, eight years after it received the adjoining 118-acre former fuel depot on Route 123 now called Mitchell Field. ...
