County weighs Bonneville dealMonday, July 24, 2006 By THOMAS RYLL, The Columbian An agreement that obligates the Army for $26.9 million for the environmental cleanup of Camp Bonneville comes before county commissioners for approval Tuesday. A year in the making, the 70-page contract is an important piece in the transfer of the 3,840-acre camp, which closed in 1995, to the county for development of a regional park. Bronson Potter, a county attorney who has worked on the deal, said the commissioners' acceptance will not obligate the county to take the camp, but is necessary to guarantee federal funding for the cleanup. ...
