BNAS cleanup update on tap Environmental regulators to present latest findings at public meeting Seth_Koenig Brunswick Times-Record (ME) August 7, 2006 BRUNSWICK - The Navy and Brunswick Redevelopment Authority are hoping that area residents make it to the Captain Daniel Stone Inn at 7 p.m. Tuesday to gain a better understanding of the ongoing environmental cleanup of Brunswick Naval Air Station. Officials say that people will be most interested in hearing about developments in the base's groundwater contaminants and its ash landfill, both of which are currently the subject of aggressive cleanups, and both of which could affect redevelopment of the property after the Navy leaves in 2011. Those cleanup efforts, which have been ongoing for decades, have been put under more pressure since last year's decision by the Base Realignment and Closure commission to have the Navy shut down the base. ...
