County ends base LRA accord Existing setup serves purpose, company says By Brandi Dean Corpus Christi Caller-Times (TX) March 9, 2006 Nueces County commissioners ended an agreement Wednesday with a consulting firm hired to help the county possibly create a body that would handle redevelopment after Naval Station Ingleside's closure. It remained unclear whether the commissioners' actions put an end to their discussion on forming a Nueces County local redevelopment authority, or LRA - a group that would seek grant money to address the effects of the base's closure. Port and San Patricio County officials have said there's no need for Nueces County to pursue LRA status because the port has reversionary rights to most of the base land. They, along with Nueces County, formed the Coastal Bend Redevelopment Planning Committee, a 13-member committee that will help the area recover, in January. ...
