Meetings set on new use for Fort MonroeRichmond Times-Dispatch (VA) April 20, 2006 HAMPTON -- A regional development authority is recruiting the public to find a new use for Fort Monroe. The Hampton Federal Area Development Authority has set a weeklong series of meetings in July where people can present ideas for redeveloping the 183-year-old fortress and surrounding complex that the military no longer needs. "The goal of the hands-on design session is to forge a community consensus and develop a long-range vision for the future of Fort Monroe," said Margaret Marshall Flippen, project director for a consulting firm involved in the project. ...
