BRAC jobs influx spurs mass transit constructionby Stephanie Wentworth Baltimore Business Journal May 2, 2006 Fort Meade, along with Anne Arundel and Howard counties, signed an agreement Tuesday to partner in the construction and operation of a mass transit facility. The proposed facility, on a 17-acre site on Fort Meade property near Tipton Airport, will house Howard Transit, Connect-A-Ride and Western Anne Arundel County bus maintenance services. The counties and military base are improving mass transit in preparation for an onset of thousands of jobs expected to relocate to the region as part of the Federal Base Realignments and Closure program, commonly known as BRAC. ...
