Baldacci signs bill to redevelop BNASChristopher Cousins Brunswick Times Record (ME) May 31, 2006 BRUNSWICK - Gov. John Baldacci put ink to paper here Tuesday to create what he said would be a valuable tool for the redevelopment of Brunswick Naval Air Station. Though the Legislature al-ready approved the formation of a Military Redevelopment Zone and the associated supplemental budget, the bill didn't become official until it was signed by the governor Tuesday and won't take effect until Aug. 23. The Military Redevelopment Zone is designed to help the Brunswick area attract new businesses that will create jobs to replace those that will be eliminated when the Navy moves out of town for good. The greater Brunswick area would not normally qualify for such a zone. ...
