Bayfront vision trimmed some Latest Manchester design given lukewarm reception By Mike Freeman SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE (CA) June 8, 2006 Developer Doug Manchester continues to rework his plans for the bayfront Navy Broadway Complex – this time trimming the scale of some buildings in hopes of easing concerns that the proposed project would wall off the city's waterfront. The latest conceptual design reduces the size of hotels, offices and retail shops on the site from 3.2 million square feet to 2.9 million square feet. It also increases the amount of open space slightly, from 4.4 acres to about 4.7 acres. The new plan got a lukewarm reception from the Centre City Development Corp., the city's downtown redevelopment agency, which is reviewing land-use plans for the 14.7 acre project. ...
