Stratford engine plant reverts to Army RICHARD WEIZEL Connecticut Post Janary 9, 2007STRATFORD - The town has lost its power to decide who will develop the 79-acre former Army engine plant, threatening the long-delayed effort by the town to redevelop the Main Street tract. After 11 years, the Army, apparently tired of waiting for Team Stratford to redevelop the sprawling manufacturing site, stunned town officials Monday with its decision to take over and seek its own bids for the project. That means the Town Council's longtime preferred developer, Team Stratford, would have to submit a new bid to the Army to be considered for the job. The Army's decision came hours before the Town Council, acting Monday night in its capacity as the federally designated Land Reuse Authority, named a new leadership group from Long Island to head Team Stratford. ...
