Army seeks comment on Gillem's environmental impact By Daniel Silliman Clayton News-Daily (GA) July 1, 2007The U.S. Army will be hosting two meetings to get the public's comments on possible environmental concerns at Fort Gillem, the 1,500-acre military installation slated for closure no later than September 2011. The Environmental Assessment Scoping Workshops will be held on July 10, from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. at Forest Park City Hall, 745 Forest Parkway. The meetings will include an overview of the environmental concerns on the property, the opportunity to meet with the experts in federal environmental law, environmental restoration and redevelopment, and will allow the Base Realignment And Closure office to receive comments. "The public can come in and provide comments on the scope for the environmental assessment," said Andy Lydick, the workshop manager for ENSR, the company contracted with BRAC to oversee environmental aspects of the base closure. "It allows us to expand the scope, to make sure all those concerned are covered." ...
