Lines are drawn in sand over Ingleside Anastasia Ustinova San Antonio Express-News (TX) November 17, 2007 INGLESIDE - With the Ingleside Naval Station slated to close in three years, its namesake city and the port that once owned the coveted property seem headed for a clash over its future. The Port of Corpus Christi, which will take back most of the base, is considering options ranging from leasing it for continued military use to making it an engineering school or homeland security training facility. But the city of Ingleside will have zoning authority over the land and will be paying close attention to the needs of an $800 million golf course and residential development now being planned for next door. The naval base will be zoned for residential development when it enters Ingleside's extraterritorial jurisdiction, city officials say, and rezoning it for the kind of commercial or industrial uses envisioned by port officials will require City Council approval. ...
