'Ghost town' fears haunt BNAS reuse panel Seth Koenig Brunswick Times-Record (ME) November 28, 2007 BRUNSWICK - Some of Gov. John Baldacci's base reuse advisers are concerned that area residents and business owners are still underestimating the coming impact of Brunswick Naval Air Station's closure. There is at least one year between the 2010 departure of the last P-3 Orion squadron and when the 3,200-acre property is turned over to civilian developers in 2011, a period during which the significant market made up of sailors and their families will be gone and no economic development can occur on the base to replace it. That stretch of time has been called the "ghost town" period by members of the Governor's Advisory Council, a group that assembled Tuesday afternoon at the Ad-vanced Technology Center in Brunswick for its regular meeting. ...
