Subject: Re: Oral Histories of Base Pollution

I agree on the importance of getting oral histories from current and former
base workers (especially former, since the unsafe disposal practices were
usually stopped before many of the current workers were around). At March AFB
(California), the oral histories were one of the first steps in the IRP
process, and they provided very valuable information. Many of the site
histories have words like "reported" and "reportedly," indicating that the
accounts from base workers were the starting point for the site
investigation.

All bases should adopt this practice.
