Subject: | Agent Orange Found at Thai Airport |
0525/wl/thailand_us_agent_orange_1.html Tuesday May 25 11:28 AM ET Agent Orange Found at Thai Airport Associated Press Summary Thailand's Department of Pollution Control believed they discovered Agent Orange, a defoliant, buried beneath a provincial airport used by the U.S. military during the Vietnam War. Fumes sickened a hundred workers who were working on an airport runway extension. A team from the Environmental Protection Agency was dispatched to Thailand to investigate the chemical and initial investigations led them to believe the chemical is not Agent Orange but a solvent. Samples of the chemical have been sent to the United States for testing, but results are weren't available at the time this article was published. The United States has admitted to testing Agent Orange and other defoliants in Thailand with the knowledge and consent of the Thai military government of the time.
