Subject: | [CPEO-MEF] deed restrictions for transferred land |
Does anyone have information on deed restrictions for transferred military lands? There is a military base that is transferring land back to the town. Unfortunately, it is still contaminated with pesticides. The EPA or the state environmental protection agency gave the site a pesticide contamination exemption. The base housing will be converted into residential housing. A community member nearby is concerned about the people who will live there and also the towns liability. Are there good deed restrictions or other safeguards the town could put in place? Thanks, Tara Thornton Military Toxics Project You can find archived listserve messages on the CPEO website at http://www.cpeo.org/lists/index.html.
