The Fall, 2000 edition of the Army Environmental Center's ENVIRONMENTAL UPDATE reports that the Army made four $25,000 awards under the Technical Assistance for Public Participation program in fiscal year 1999, the first full year of the program's operation. The awards went to Restoration Advisory Boards at the Ravenna Army Ammunition Plant (Ohio), the Jefferson Proving Ground (Indiana), the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant (Minnesota), and the Longhorn Army Ammunition Plant (Texas). I believe that both the Navy and Air Force also made a small number of TAPP awards that year, as well. I'd be interested in hearing from TAPP recipients how well the program is working. Are they getting the help that they want? Is the administration of the program smooth? Is the technical assistance leading to better cleanup decisions? -- Lenny Siegel Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight c/o PSC, 222B View St., Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650/961-8918 or 650/969-1545 Fax: 650/968-1126 lsiegel@cpeo.org http://www.cpeo.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You can find archived listserve messages on the CPEO website at http://www.cpeo.org/lists/index.html.
