Experts See No Uranium Arms-Leukemia Link Gina Kolata New York Times Service Monday, January 15, 2001 NEW YORK It is biologically impossible for depleted uranium to have caused the leukemia that some allied troops who served in the Balkans have contracted, physicists and medical experts say. And they doubt that uranium-tinged dust near military testing grounds has caused any illnesses in Europe. Frank von Hippel, a physicist who is a professor of public and international affairs at Princeton University, said depleted uranium was not much of a radioactivity hazard, in part because it is what its name implies - depleted.
