Navy Says No Spilled Jet Fuel Has Leaked Outside Base By Frank X. Mullen Jr. Reno Gazette-Journal May 31st, 2001 Nobody knows how much jet fuel spilled on to the ground at Fallon Naval Air Station in the last 30 years, but Navy and state regulators said they are fairly sure of one thing: The underground contamination hasn’t gotten off the base. The possible spread of the plume has become an issue because jet fuel is among the focuses of an investigation into 14 cases of childhood leukemia in Fallon. The 14 children have been diagnosed with the illness since 1997, including 13 in the last two years. ...
