Subject: | RE: [CPEO-MEF] Lead Levels |
[POSTED BY William Walsh (WALSHW@pepperlaw.com)] The short cut answer to how the lead cleanup levels were derived is that model EPA uses correlates ingestion of lead with blood levels. The acceptable blood levels are levels deemed safe for a fetus. The model parameters are health-protective generic default assumptions. Site-specific applications of the model has resulted in higher levels. This model is unique to lead because few other chemicals have sufficient blood level, epidemiological data, pharmakinetic information, and exposure data to make the correlation possible. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | |
