Subject: | [CPEO-MEF] Navy re-submits Moffett Wetlands plan |
Mountain View Voice Friday, May 10, 2002 Navy goes ahead with controversial cleanup plan By Bill D'Agostino A planned Superfund cleanup of a Moffett Field marshland site that was heavily criticized when the Navy released it last year was resubmitted to the public last week, again harvesting much of the same criticisms from environmental and local representatives. The plan would prevent future restoration of tidal flows to the marsh, but environmentalists and local government representatives have said they would like to see saltwater flows returned to the wetland. Located across Stevens Creek from Shoreline Park, the 150-acre marshland (known as Site 25) is currently contaminated with PCBs, DDT and metals such as lead and zinc.
