Mountain View Voice Friday, May 10, 2002 Navy to test air in military homes Reversing course, Navy says indoor tests necessary to determine health risk By Justin Scheck After almost a year of insisting that a controversial computer program was sufficient to assure the safety of families living above toxins at Moffett Field, the Navy did an about-face last week, saying it would test the air inside homes to see if families are at risk. Lawrence Lansdale, the Navy's cleanup coordinator for the Moffett Field Superfund site, said last week that the air inside townhomes at Orion Park - a military housing complex just outside the Moffett fence - would be tested to determine whether toxic solvents in the groundwater are vaporizing through soil and entering homes. ...
