Subject: | [CPEO-MEF] Senate EPW to Hold Hearings DOD RRPI Provisions |
Tomorrow at 2:30 PM the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee
will hold hearings on those sections of the Defense Authorization Act for
FY2003 that fall within the committee jurisdiction. Namely the exemptions
that DOD seek from 6 of the country's environmental laws:
The Migratory Bird Treaty Act The Endangered Species Act The Marine Mammal Protection Act CERCLA The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) The Clean Air ActHearings on the issue of encroachment have been held for about the last year and a half however this is the first time that a hearing will be held on specific legislation. At this time the committee has not released a final witness list however we do know that unlike the other hearings (with the exception of the House Government Reform Committee hearing where the state of Colorado testified) non-DOD viewpoints will be represented. We will post a witness list when it becomes available. Aimee Please note new phone number and address below. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Aimee R.
