Rare moth identified at Westover air base THE ASSOCIATED PRESS CHICOPEE - Rare tiger moths and some of the world's largest jet transports are sharing the night skies at Westover Air Reserve Base. The sprawling western Massachusetts air base is the last place in Massachusetts and one of two spots in New England where the phyllira tiger moth is still found, said Mike Nelson, a zoologist with the state's natural heritage and endangered species program. "We are happy to house them," Jack Moriarty, an environmental engineer at the base, said yesterday. "It is an indicator of a healthy habitat and we care about the habitat."
