[POSTED BY Dick and Jill Miller <TheMillers@millermicro.com>] Do you recognize the name, Steven Milloy? In his own words, "Steven Milloy is the publisher of JunkScience.com , an adjunct scholar at the Cato Institute and the author of Junk Science Judo: Self-defense Against Health Scares and Scams (Cato Institute, 2001)." His theme is quite clear, to discredit any interference with the toxics industries: http://www.foxnews.com/column_archive/0,2976,14,00.html In the article, Milloy's main argument is: "But the EPA ignores a fundamental tenet of toxicology -- the dose makes the poison." Milloy claims, but fails to substantiate, that EPA ignored that. But Milloy ignores a fundamental tenet for water supplies. Even more so than for discretionary foods, drinking water should strive toward purity and safety for all users, not just for the majority of users who can tolerate a little more industrial pollution in their daily intake. It would be good if these "public service" articles by corporate apologists were forced to disclose their sponsors. It would be good if propaganda mills wouldn't masquerade as "Institutes". It would be good if they didn't use the bogus phrase, "junk science", to put political spin on numbers and formulae. But until those steps happen, know the enemy.
